It’s no secret that most summer camps start at age 5, so finding camps that my 4 and 6 year olds could attend together was no easy feat. Even some of the camps that claim they accept 4 year olds had restrictions on when the 5th birthday takes place. Some required that a child turn 5 before December, or be enrolled in TK for the fall.
Luckily, with some digging, I was able to find 3 wonderful camps that accept children starting at age 4! I wanted to leave some time for family vacations and a little bit of relaxing and spontaneity too, so we’re going to be doing 2 weeks of each camp for a total of 6 weeks of camp this summer. Without further ado, here they are:
Vibes Kids Camp
Dates: June 7th-August 27th
Times: 9am-2pm (plus option for extended hours)
Location: 3636 Linden Avenue, Long Beach, California 90807
This camp looks like the most classic summer camp of the 3. There is a different theme each week, and there’s a wide variety of activities available. A few notable activities include swimming, dance, painting, woodworking, cooking, outdoor sports, and walking field trips. Both of my girls went to preschool at Belmont Heights Church Preschool with many of the camp staff and we love them, so we’re very comfortable sending the girls here and we’re excited for all the activities they get to be a part of.

First Touch Soccer Camp
Dates: June 21st-August 27th
Times: 9am-12pm or 9am-3pm (4 year olds may only attend the 9-12 option, all other ages may attend either and also opt for extended hours)
Location: Multiple locations available in Long Beach and surrounding cities
This camp is a soccer camp. It’s a mix of learning and play, and they accept all skill levels. First Touch Soccer is a part of the AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) and all of the coaches are trained and experienced. It looks like a great opportunity for young kids to develop their soccer skills and also learn to be a part of a team and work together.

Firestorm Freerunning Camp
Dates: June 14th-August 6th (no camp week of July 19th)
Times: 9am-12pm or 9am-3pm
Location: 7220 Hazard Ave, Westminster CA 92683
This camp is a gymnastics/ninja warrior/acrobatic camp. And I know, it’s not technically in Long Beach, but it’s very close, and they start at age 4. This camp will include activities like legos, games, obstacle courses, and trampoline time. Signing up was a little more difficult than the others, as I had to send an email and also call a few times to get everything set up, but it looks like a blast so it was worth the 30 minutes or so to get the kids registered.
